Leadership and drinking the Sand
Aaron Sorkin wrote it...now the two ends of the spectrum both conservative and liberal are standing up and screaming, because there is no "Leadership" from level headed people who can determine what "we ought to have" versus "what we want and think we need"...with regard to policy today.

leadership, they will listen to
anyone who steps up to the
microphone. They want leadership,
Mr. President. They're so thirsty
for it, they'll crawl through the
desert toward a mirage, and when
they discover there's no water,

beloved, who couldn't find a coherent
sentence with two hands and a
flashlight. People don't drink the

And its our Cable news hosts who are leading these people, many of whom don't know the difference between fact and fear mongering agenda driven ratings stunts...It is the fringe who are leading...The Maddow, Limbaugh fringe, the JD Hayworth's, attacking John McCain. The Emily's List politician that is tunnel visioned to ensure reproductive rights beyond the wants and desires of the American Public.

Cable News is Political Porn!
Cable News is PORNOGRAPHY! – Political Pornography! Explicit and obscene acts that are designed to incite and generate excitement from the audience.
Rush, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Stephanie Miller, Rachael Maddow, and that Idiot with the big head, massive ego, toupee and glasses that used to be on ESPN, are all pornographers! And so is Chris Mathews!
Lets get this straight...The last thing I want to see is Rush naked, but what I am hearing are his “Naked” thoughts, that’s the problem….Irresponsible “Naked” thoughts are inciting the wrong kind of excitement from so many. (Maddow, however, I might like to see naked...)
Fox and MSNBC have all news all day and night long…But it isn’t the news it’s fantasy! These “News” channels manufacture explicit and grotesque images of the political and social issues which are facing this country on a daily basis. They are taking issues that need rational thought, study and analysis and boiling them down to a one line “title” and a one line solution, no matter how complex, and then they open their mouths on the air and incite excitement, negative and irrational excitement from, in many cases an uninformed, naive and now scared viewing audience. Then they expect the leaders of the country to come up with thoughtful solutions, all based off their attempt to incite excitement, nd generate ratings to sell Clorox.
Ok, Pornography incites sexual excitement, but this is political pornography, these “naked” thoughts incite a totally uncomfortable and unnecessary excitement which is driving the country in directions that are unhealthy.
That is what is happening on the news, these hosts are creating a suspension of disbelief and throwing out the real issues and drumming up the unrealistic. This “Entertain-News” is cables way to pornographi-size the news! We all see Katie Couric and Brian Williams and who ever is on ABC and watch what Viacom, GE, or Disney have decided is the news of the day and dresses it in a lovely way, leading in with music and telling the good parts, never showing the risqué parts and not really having an opinion, except that if it didn’t happen on that 24 minute segment it probably didn’t happen, “That’s how it is”. This makes me think of the great movies, Drama, Comedy, Romance, they tell me a story, a story that helps me see the truth more clearly sometimes. Scorsese did that in raging bull, sometimes CBS can pull it off on 60 Minutes.
This “naked” Journalism and Political Pornography comes right into our living room, 24 hours a day! Not 24 minutes every evening, in a subtle and sensual way, but with Glenn Beck Calling the President a Racist, or Maddow calling for Bruno to be able to marry the Gimp, It is all obscene. These personalities have a pulpit and spew vitriol and hate with out any care of the repercussions of their words and the meaning of them. They show you the act, as it should maybe be kept somewhat private. They tell you every detail as it may be best that gentlemen don’t discuss such things, they don’t give you the truth to see more clearly, they give you the freakish large man rapping the teenage beauty and call it news.
Stop fanning flames, interpret the news in your own way, but be responsible! Or at least don’t pretend to be what you are not, you are not news men (and yes I mean you too Maddow) you are not news men, you are pornographers, explicitly telling stories in gruesome detail, inciting emotion from unrealistic interpretations, blaming the politicians and forcing us to watch.
It is a matter of leadership. No one else to do it I suppose, so the masses follow whoever stands up and screams! They will follow you to the dessert, if you tell them there is water, they will drink the sand if you told them to…well maybe sand isn’t good for us, even though you are on TV, doesn’t mean you have a right to feed us that sand…Give us water!
